Which is my ind. variable and which is my dep. variable?

Hello,

My experiment is on candy chromatography. I'm trying to determine what color dyes are used to make the different color m&m candy. I have as my independent variable color dye extracted from each candy. I have as my dependent variable the color dyes that re used to make the candy.

I think I pretty much understand the difference between independent and dependent variable. Independent variable is what I'm going to change and dependent variable is what happens after I make that change. But I'm still not sure if my variables above are right.

Can someone please help me?

Thanks!

Hi,

The independent and dependent variables look correct! It is because you are altering the color of the m&m (red, blue, etc), and the color dye will change during experimentation accordingly.

Good luck! Let us know if you have any more questions!
