I'm Actually the mother of the child doing this experiment and i would like some guidence with the project. It has been a while since I've had to do one. Following the flow chart I have in front of me the step are as follows 1. Question: what do we want to find out? 2. Collect Information. 3. Hypothesis: What do we tink we will find out? This is were I'am stuck at Is the hypothesis the same as my question "Which brand of paper towels holds the most water?" Another questions I have or should i say im having a problem with wording the name of the experiment I had in mind "Which is really the quicker picker upper but I'm not sure if the judges will understand what the project is about just from the title i could use some suggestion so I may pass them on to my child. Thank you.

Hi,
The hypothesis is, as you mentioned, what you expect to happen. For example, you might hypothesize that a certain brand or type of paper towel will absorb the most water. To answer your other question, it might be helpful to come up with a clearer name for the experiment, such as "Investigating Water Absorbency of Paper Towels." The Science Buddies guide also has some very helpful tips on choosing hypotheses:

I wish you and your child the best of luck with this experiment!
