Shadow a Meteorologist for Graduation Project

I am a junior and for my graduation project I was hoping to shadow a meteorologist or any scientist in the earth sciences field. What resources are out there that can help me find and contact a local meteorologist or weather station? I haven't had any luck in finding specific stations.

I know very little about the field of meteorology but I did find what looks like a very informative site hosted by the American Meteorological Society at http://www.ametsoc.org/index.html. Among other things, they have a directory of Certified Consulting Meteorologists listed for each state. (See http://www.ametsoc.org/memb/ccm/ccmhmfrm.html) Most have email addresses and phone numbers so contacting one of them may be a good start. Please work with through your parents to make initial contact. Also, I recommend that you don’t directly ask to shadow them but ask them for suggestions on how to find someone to shadow. Who knows, they themselves may volunteer to help you out.

Thank you very much! The directory was a very good idea; unfortunately when I tried to email the one consultant near my area, the email came back as unable to send. I think the list may be outdated :(
