I am just starting my research process and I am looking at solvents. I am drawing a blank and was thinking of testing what solvents are used to remove adhesive. Another question would be what solvents are used to remove paint? Does anyone have suggestions regarding solvents that might be helpful.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
I have split your topic into a new thread so that the physical science experts will realize that you need some help. Good luck!

The typical requirements for the properties of a viable solvent for a specific use involve:
1) What is the material you are trying to disolve?
2) Are there any materials you are trying not to affect?
3) Are there any environmental (disposal) or exposure issues or other toxicity issues with any residues?
You haven't given us much in the way of the requirements in order to narrow down what is appropriate.

Are you looking for something commercial or something you make yourself? From experience, I know products such a goo gone work. We have also used a blow dryer to remove stickers my brothers put on my mom's car. I still don't get exactly what you are asking.
