i would like to do this project for my science investigatory project (SIP) https://www.sciencebuddies.org/mentorin ... p016.shtml
In this project they use salt as the food preservative. But i would like to use sugar as the food preservative.
what should i do? Another thing, one of the materials listed there is 4 low salt boullion cubes. do i still have to buy boullion cubes even if the food preservative i'll be using is sugar? i'll really appreciate your help. Thank You.

This is a very interesting topic, and a good one for a science fair project. Since you are interested in investigating the effect of sugar as a preservative, you do not need to purchase bouillon cubes. However, before you get started, you should do some background reading and investigate how sugar works as a food preservative:

Here’s a general introduction to the subject. This Scientific American article explains that sugar limits that, among other things, sugar limits the water available to the microorganisms.

To do this project, you will need to develop a question that can be answered by doing a carefully controlled experiment, and you will need a way to measure your results. I recommend reading through the project guide.
