Hi,

Try looking at the Science Buddies Project Idea Guide for lots of good ideas:

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... deas.shtml

You may also want to read the Science Buddies Project Guide (see the tabs at the top of the web page), and particularly this page on selecting a great project question:

Good luck, have fun, and do a great science fair project!!

Thank You for the advicve. But are there any specific projects you reccomend?
My dad and I were thinking of testing weather grass blades on a sloped hill, naturally grows up the hill, down the hill, or do the blades of the grass move based on where the sun is?
We thoughgt this would be an interesting project and maybe make it to my distict science fair.
But i was also trying to think of the procedure that would go with it.. Like take a picture of the grass every hour and compare the pictures and do this over several days?
What is your opinion on this idea?
Thank you so much for all the help!

Hi,

Stem elongation (the growth of plant stems) is a great topic for a project. I see you have come up with a procedure to conduct this study. Your idea to take a picture of the blades of grass each day for several days is creative but I believe there is a more accurate way of determining the direction of the blades. Later on in this response I have provided a more accurate method of conducting your project. I would also suggest using taller plants because they are more easily observed and measured. I have also provided a link that has a huge selection of plant biology project ideas and a link with a project most similar to the project you talked about. Each project on the Science Buddies Guide has a full description of the procedure and some suggestions on what to look for during the study.

Plant Biology Project Ideas: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... a=PlantBio
Project on stem elongation: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... z&from=TSW.

This should help you start your project and let me know if you have any more questions. Good luck!!

Cheers, Jon
