Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

Hello,

In a previous post, I have asked about a project based on fire retardants, but it wasn't practical due to issues with materials.
So, after quite a bit of research, I'm becoming interested in a project regarding magnetorheological fluids. Before I get into any especially detailed research, though, I was wondering if such a project would be practical (materials, testing environment, etc.)

You should have little problem making and experimenting with magnetorheological fluids. Here are webpages describing how to make some:

Sorry about the fire retardents project. This topic is something I know nothing about other than producing magnetic fields or finding ways to modify equipment to get a strong localized field.
