Hi!
I'm doing a science fair project on the purpose of ingredients in a standard chocolate chip cookie. I was wondering if you have any ideas of what I can do for this project and what I should do background research on.

Hi!
This ScienceBuddies Project Guide might help you to get some ideas on a project that might involve cookies:

Definitely do some background research in the process of baking and what the usual purpose of certain ingredients like water are. Hope this helps, good luck!

Hi,
I noticed this cookbook review in my local paper today. It sounds like just what you may be interested in:

Thank you!
But I don't think I have a question for the purpose of ingredients-like what am I going to test? I don't want to do taste.
Anyways I was thinking about doing a project on the ripening of a fruit. I can test ethylene and temperature.
Or I can do a project on the rate at which a flower blooms. I can test with water, sugared water, acid, and copper.
I am hoping that you can give me an opinion on which one I should do?
Thanks

We do have some advice for survey-based projects, and one Science Buddies project in particular deals with taste-testing cookies:

One thing to consider when choosing a project is how much time you have -- will the flowers bloom quickly enough? You also want to make sure you have the resources to do it... do you have a good way to store fruit at two different temperatures without changing other variables that might be important like humidity? Everything else being equal, though, pick the one that interests you most!
