Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

My science project requires me to acquire an EEG (electroencephalograph) and some profesional advice in the field of neurscience and I don't know how to obtain these. My science project question is: How will listening to Baroque style music effect the human memory? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

A few basic things you can try: talk to your science teacher and see if they can hook you up with a lab to do your tests. Try your family physician and see if they know people who can help you out. If there is a local university near you, try their neuroscience department and start calling professors to see if they would be willing to help.

You should try to develop a plan for your project that answers these two questions
1) How many subjects will you test? There will be a test group (music) and a control group (no music) or perhaps you will test each subject twice, using them as their own control.
2) How long will they be exposed to music (how long will the test session be)?
When you have this information, and you ask for assistance, you will be able to tell them how much time they will need to make available to you. Time is always limited with expensive equipment !! Also, showing them that you have thought about the design of your experiment will increase the likelihood that they will want to work with you.
