Hi scifi2368,

Welcome to the forum. Since you have a deadline I wanted to give you a heads-up that I don't *think* there are any medical doctors among the experts here -- but I could be wrong, so we'll see who responds. You're more likely to get a response from someone who does research in neuroscience but has (or is pursuing) a PhD rather than an MD.

It sounds like you'd most like to talk to a practicing neurosurgeon (neurological surgeon) who also does some research. Your best bet might be to look for a teaching hospital -- often a large hospital located next to a medical school. If you live near one, maybe you'd even be able to stop by in person and see some of their equipment as well! This is just an example, but UVA Medical Center's neurology page lists their doctors along with research interests and/or publications in many cases: http://uvahealth.com/services/neurosciences/our-doctors

Best wishes,
Amanda
