My son is looking for material for an experiment on convection. We have been searching in vain for a large, clear pot/pan/container that can tolerate heat (to a low boil). Do you have any suggestions where he can find supplies like this (no luck on Amazon or retail stores), or have any suggestions about other methods he could use?

Thank you!

You need a glass beaker. All of the scientific supply companies sell them - VWR, Fisher, PGC Scientific, Bioexpress...

or you may be able to find them in your chemistry department at your local university, or even high school.
