what is a plant such as a tomato plant, or something with a fruit, that can fit into a smaller container??

I am not sure what your project/experiment requires exactly and in what context you are asking this question, but here are a couple of suggestions...
Perhaps a chili plant can fit into a smaller container and so can a strawberry plant or an okra plant...
