Appearance and judgement

My science fair question is: Does physical appearance affect whether or not people respond to you? I decided to try and conduct an experiment where I go out to a public place atleast a couple of times, changing my appearance each time and I would come up with a list of questions to ask people. Then, I would ask the same amount of people day and see how many people respond to me. One time I would dress nicely, another casually and another time douchey. (I know thats not really a good way to explain it, but forgive me) . I'd like to know how I would start out my procedures, would I say "Dress in your theme for the day" or would I get straight to the point, saying to ask people to answer questions ?

Hey there,
That sounds like a very interesting a project...Yes I think your idea sounds good...I would suggest that you go to a unique location for each of your trials rather than just a random public place...like maybe at the same Starbucks every time where are there are regular customers and certain kinds of people...Maybe you can even test how different kinds of people respond to your appearance (kids, teenagers, adults, etc.)
As for your procedure, yes, start off with your theme for the day, then describe the location (should be the same every time), then list/ask the questions, then make sure you note down the results...

Hope that helps!
Have fun,
Prasad

That sounds like a great project! In the procedure I would start with buying the cloths then go in to that.

Hope that helps :)
