Hi,

A water quality project would be excellent, and there are a number of topics to investigate. You could do chemical analysis or perhaps a microbiological analysis of water. Here are some science buddies projects that might give you some ideas.

Here are some chemicals that should not be in drinking water:

Since you have a short time left before the fair, I recommend selecting a topic that you have the resources to do. Many of the chemical analysis require expensive equipment and access to a laboratory, but you could to the conductivity testing on your own. Remember that you want to develop a question that you can answer by doing a carefully controlled experiment.

Please let me know if you have any questions before narrowing down your topic.
