I am still undecided on the project that my son can do. I want him to do a project where he can collect lots of data and show more graphs. I could not find a project like that. Any ideas.. Any sample projects.. websites

The attention span of most 2nd graders will probably make doing lots of anything less than enjoyable.

If you don't start out with something your son is really really interested in, then it won't even start out being fun.

My goal for 2nd graders would be to find something they are really interested in and then figure out a way to scientifically investigate something related to their interest. The hope would be to come up with something where the scientific method is easily applied to answering some interesting question without requiring a lot of expensive or complicated equipment.

The mathmatical concepts of multiplication and division are typically things that haven't been introduced which limits the ability to comprehend ratios, proportions, and area that are involved in lots of physical science, graphing, and data correlation.

Yes, the best thing is to ask him, then try to expand on it. Just remember to ask him if he understands his own project. I know from personal experience, if you don't start knowing your own project, it's easily shown when you present. But try not to push it, or he might shy away from the sciences! Good luck!
