Deanna gave a great suggestion to you earlier. The ScienceBuddies science topic forum is a very good resource for helping beginning students like you chose a suitable project idea. It also helps to know what sort of resources will be available to you (i.e. do you live close to a pond, lake, or stream? Will you be working at school, home, or in a professional lab setting? etc).
