I am looking to grow specific mold cultures to use in training a detection dog. How do I get started? The cultures need to be as pure as possible for the purposes of training...where do I begin?

Hi lunwolf,

Mold is highly dangerous to human health, and I don't think the general public is allowed to grow mold without government jurisdiction (like a mold lab). I would try a different project if I were you.

Hope that helps!

Mold Detection Dogs are of great service to people and can detect mold that humans cannot...I will continue to work on my project, but thanks for the advice. I think it is worth the risk if done properly and safely.

Hi lunawolf,

So then my next question would be... Are you part of a microbiology lab that will allow you to grow mold on agar plates? There are very specific protocls that have to be followed for growing hazardous organisms like mold.
