I decided to do a science fair project on which yogurt has the most bacteria. I have a microscope and wonder how i would do this accurately without growing bacteria on an agar plate, which my school does not allow. Thank you very much. :D :D

Hi Nick,

You have a very interesting project idea! Unfortunately, an accurate estimation of the amount of bacteria requires growth an an agar plate. Have you considered contacting local colleges or community colleges to see if you could do your experiment in one of their laboratories? If your school cannot accommodate the growth of bacteria on agar, perhaps you can do the experiment in a lab and then present your results at your school.

Keep in mind, though, that many schools and science fairs restrict the use of bacteria in the interest of your safety. So it's best to check the guidelines before proceeding.

I hope that helps you get started. Let us know if you have more questions.

Heather
