Effect of pH on seed germination

For this year's science fair I'm trying to find the effect of pH on seeds. So i was planning to pre rinse the seeds in a chemical overnight, and then place them in a moist paper towel the next day. The thing is I was gonna place it in a paper towel soaked with the chemical i placed it in overnight. Like for example if placed it in Vinegar,I'll let them sit in a paper towel moist with vinegar. Will they still germinate? Or should I just place it in a paper towel soaked in water? Also feel free to make any suggestions to improve this project. Thanks for your time and effort :D

Hi there,

You have a very interesting project, with relevant implications!

Your best bet is to try to grow the seeds in soil at different pH levels. Here is some information from the Science Buddies archives to help you get started:

You can modify the Radiant Radish Seeds project (https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ?from=Blog) to do your experiment with pH.

Please post back in this thread if you have more questions.

Good luck!
