Hi!!! :) I'm Katelyn Hobbs...6th grader working on science fair project about asking an expert
I have a few questions to ask about 'what's the fastest way to cool a soda?'
-How long have you been working in the physics field???
-What do you like best about this field???
-Why did you become a scientist???
-Have you ever experimented with the cooling of soda's like i did???

Hello Katelyn,

-How long have you been working in the physics field???
I am a retired physicist who worked in nuclear physics, biophysics, and geophysics for 38 years.

-What do you like best about this field???
I had serious duties to perform in all my positions, but the science was always so interesting that I would have done it just for the fun. Also, one meets really nice and interesting people in science. One can make a quite satisfactory living doing science, but the reward of seeing and understanding something--anything--that has never been seen or understood by anyone in all of history is really, really, satisfying.

-Why did you become a scientist???
Physics appeals to me because it looks at the most basic structure of our world. I like to know the fundamental reasons for "Why?"

-Have you ever experimented with the cooling of soda's like i did???
No. I haven't done the specific operations you did in the experiment. On the other hand, the physical world runs by the same rules everywhere and all the time: another thing I like about physics. Once you become skilled in setting up a well-defined experiment; once you understand how to assemble and control physical systems, the experience carries over to many other situations. As I read the project description I can picture how I would do it.
