Which system produces the best (strongest) electric field when fed into an electric field detector such as a thin metallic plate jar detector...a Tesla coil, a Van De Graaff generator, or an inductor coil? And why? Thanks!

Hello researcher9750,

The magnitude of the electric potential created by each of the machines you mention depends on the details of its construction. A big inductor might produce a higher voltage than a small Van de Graaff accelerator or vice versa.

The name "Tesla coil" is used for a couple of different devices, but the most common usage is for a device that produces alternating current, while the Van de Graaff produces DC, and the inductor can produce either depending on how it's used.
