Hi Kiana,

Amy has suggested an excellent project from the Science Buddies website that includes information for making homemade lip gloss. Watch the video on the project page to get the details on how to make your own project. You can also Google, “how to make lipstick,” to get other recipes.

You can check for availability of the beeswax, castor oil, vitamin E, and other ingredients at local craft stores, health food stores, or drug stores. You will probably have to go to more than one store.

To compare homemade and commercial lipstick for a science project, you will need a method to measure results. This is the challenging part of this project. In the project video, test subjects were asked to rate the products. Do you have any ideas about how you could do this?
