Hi,

I was curious why certain nanoparticle can cause hyperthermia and if there is any metal element that would cause hyperthermia? THanks.

Hello kevinhahahaha,

I think the effect that you refer to is the use of magnetic nanoparticles to treat cancer. The particles do not heat themselves. They heat up when an alternating magnetic field is applied externally. The property of magnetic materials called hysteresis causes them to absorb energy from the magnetic field.

I think some of the particles that are used are metallic.

The web is full of articles that give more information.
