Help! I need a project idea particularly more on electronics. We have a sponsor who is an engineer so it'll be no problem. We just need possible project ideas that's very unique and could solve some of the world's problems. We need to have our research proposal on Monday (June 18,2012) I browse through science buddies' project ideas similar to electronics but I can' t find the perfect research project.
Here are my classmates' research projects (so you can have an idea)
-360 degrees revolving sensor fan
-Low-cost Air Cooler
-HeliCam
-Shock Watch

And for science-related projects my classmates have:
-Biodiesel: Diesel of the Future
-Organic Paper Cups (Areca Leaves)
-Toxicity of water in different areas/locations

Please help me :-) Thanks for reading this.

Usually these forums provide technical assistance to ongoing projects, not generating research topics.

Setting that aside, there are two big problems in finding a topic that is "unique and could solve some of the world's problems". Unique ideas are by their nature hard to come by. Second, most unusual and creative projects, even those that are not unique, which attempt to solve a world problem are likely to be difficult to fit within the constraints of a science fair project.

All that said, here are some difficult ideas "off the top of my head":

1. Traditional recipes for the solder used in electronics all use lead. These are now banned by environmental law. No fully satisfactory substitute has been found. Find one. The world will be grateful.

2. Electrical or hybrid electrical cars are vital for the environment. But the lead-acid batteries they use are problematical on many fronts. Other battery types are being researched already, but an alternative to batteries, supercapacitors, have received much less attention. Find out what the problems are with existing supercapacitors and solve one of them.

3. Find a pulsed optical or near IR signal from an extraterrestrial species.

4. Research ground-cooling using multiple buried PVC air channels to solve the problem of cooling computer centers.

Hope these help.
