Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

I have to come up with and create a project for my schools science fair. My idea is to create a type of frisbee that generates energy and can power a light. i was curious if this idea is even possible and if so do you have any ideas on how to harvest the energy in that way. thank you

Sorry to hear that you are very confused. Let's break down the problem in bits.

For the first part, what is the source of the energy? Something must be responsible for the movement whether that's a frisbee being thrown by a person, a machine or something else. What type of energy would you want to generate, for a light bulb, you have the option of AC (Alternating current) or DC (Direct Current) for LEDs.

The second item is the method of transmitting this energy - how is this energy getting to the light from this Frisbee.

Please take a look at the following experiment and hopefully it will give you some insights. It looks like it contains a lot of concept that's similar to your problem statement. Also, you may also want to search for wind energy as well.
