Can I use a different type of acetone?

Hello! I have started a science fair project: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... od#summary
The procedure includes me putting acetone on chips and other items to find out how much fat they have.

Is it fine if I use 100% acetone nail polish remover instead of ACTUAL acetone? I can't find it in stores.

Please reply ASAP, I appreciate your help.

Hi,
I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble locating Acetone. It should be available at most hardware store such as Home Depot, Walmart, etc...

Unfortunately, I think there are other component in nail polish remover that could impact the results of your experiment.

Good Luck with your experiment!
