Hello,

I am requesting your help on a experiment I am conducting. The experiment is an agricultural biodegradable Ph Indicator Hydrogel. For my hydrogel, I am following the instructions from Science Buddies, and for the Ph Indicator, I am using red cabbage. Will this work? I plan to pour the red cabbage in the hydrogel, and study whether the water is acidic or not.

Yeah, it should work. Red cabbage is a natural pH indicator, so if you mix the cabbage extract into your hydrogel, it can change color based on whether the water is acidic or not. The only thing to watch for is that the color might not be super strong or might change slowly, but overall your idea makes sense and is definitely possible.

Thanks! The project was a success, and we’re moving on to the county level!
