DNA Sequencing - Fluorescent Dye

Hi,

A part of my science fair project talks about the Dye-terminator sequencing. And how this mehtod uses nucleotides that have been given a fluorescent colour.
I am wondering how that is done, how do nucleotides get a fluorscent dye?
