Hi,
A part of my science fair project talks about the Dye-terminator sequencing. And how this mehtod uses nucleotides that have been given a fluorescent colour.
I am wondering how that is done, how do nucleotides get a fluorscent dye?
Thank you. Please reply as soon as possible.

Re: DNA Sequencing - Fluorescent Dye
Hi,
Here is an explanation of the sequenceing techniques:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNA_sequencing
This book exerpt from Google also describes the technique:
http://books.google.com/books?id=X5yNv0 ... ng&f=false
Here is an explanation in more of an outline form:

I hope this answers the question. This is an important subject of very practical importance in life sciences today. Good luck with the project!
Best regards,
