Artificial wetlands can provide benefits over the long haul

Two 1-hectare wetlands created for research demonstrated that they take up carbon from the atmosphere and nitrogen and phosphorus from incoming water. Initially planting a wetland boosted the variety of plants present over the duration of the study, but reduced the total production of plant material in the wetlands. Read more
