Spider Webs and Fabric

Post by ReignBeau54 »

Hello, SBF! I am in the 9th grade and am pert of the Science Research program at my school.

I was reading in the Science Buddies article "Strong and Light" about how spider web fibers and their strength. This gave me an idea about why spider web fibers were so strong and how humans could design a synthetic material as strong as spider fibers. Do you think this is a good idea? Suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hi ReignBeau54,

I would suggest inputing "why are spider web fibers strong" to answers.com
There are three direct answers plus lots of web resources. Using the original, "why are spider web fibers strong," one also gets http://www.ccmr.cornell.edu/education/a ... l?quid=454 as a direct answer.
Cheers!

Hi ReignBeau54,

Oops, I left out the key word so. I meant:
