Diabetes Research Project

Post by mythology »

Hello

Could anyone please explain to me what these projects are determining...

Investigating the Role of PTEN in Modulating the Insulin Signaling Pathway to Treat Type 2 Diabetes

The Effects of Ipriflavone on Human Osteoclastic Bone Resorption and Cell Morphology in vitro

Mapping Mosquito Biomarkers of Hormonal Manipulation

I am looking for a research project that will help be one step closer to finding the cure to Type 1 and/or Type 2 diabetes.
I know I have a load of work ahead of me especially since I am in high school, but I ready for it.
Please include any pre-studying materials, books, things I should know, websites, etc.

Thank you!

Hi mythology,

Wow, finding the cure to Type 1 and/or Type 2 diabetes (or even adding to our knowledge) is a lofty goal! I'm sure you realize it won't easy as there are many scientists working to the same goal.

Is there a specific sciencebuddies experiment that describes your project?

I couldn't find one, and I'd like to have one before passing your post one to a diabetes expert I know. I'm not promising that passing the project on to this person will yield a solution, but it's definitely worth a try.
Cheers!

Hi mythology,

Interesting, the three projects you mentioned were among the many (over 100) special award winners at the 2005 Intel ISEF fair. Please see http://www.societyforscience.org/isef/r ... ao2005.asp Thanks

Three questions:

1. Did you select your projects from this page?
2. If so, how did you pick the three projects?
3. Do any of other projects on this page suggest a good project to you?
Cheers!

Dear Mr. Kallman

Yes, I did get those projects from that exact page. Nice Research!
I chose those three in particular because I was curious on what the projects were actually demonstarating, and also because they were under the Endocrine Society heading. I had done some reading on the Endocrine Society and found out that they do awards.

Any way you can help?

Thanks for you help and support.

Also, may you please take a look at my laptop question and reply if you can?

Hi mythology,

Instead of trying to repeat experiments that have already been done at top science fairs, I suggest doing some background research on diabetes and picking out a problem that interests you. You might also see if there are any diabetes researchers in your area who would be willing to advise you.

The American Diabetes Association has a research page you might check out: http://www.diabetes.org/patientinform/default.jsp

Good luck,

What is the natural cure for Diabetes and Multiple sclerosis? You always hear about natural cures for diseases, but you never hear of what they are or even the treatments. I've heard there is a natural cure for Herpes, diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, and hypertension, but no one ever seems to know what they are, or where they can be found. I have even read that book 'Natural Cures "They" Don't Want You to Know About' by Kevin Trudeau and he just beats around the bush. Is there anyone out there with solid evidence and answers?
