Need a good title for science project quickly!

Post by GOD »

My experiment is to collect bacteria from these 4 areas:Bathroom, sink, toliet, and door knob, grow them in petri dishes on agar nutrient surface and obersve which area grows the most bacteria.I am done with the experiment but I need a catchy title. My current title is "The Effect of Bacteria on Bathroom Utilities" but it does not in my opinion sound catchy or specific. My project is due sometime this week. Please help me!Thank you!

How about "Where the Wild Things Grow," a takeoff of Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are"?
Cheers!

"need help creating a data for my science project"!please!

Post by GOD »

My science project is on collecting bacteria from different locations:sink, toilet, bathtub, and door knob, and grow the bacteria on agar nutrient surfaces in petri dishes and observe which location grows the most bacteria. I made a mistake on counting and measuring the colonies before disposing the dishes, i only took pictures for bacteria growth evidence. i need ideas for creating a graph and chart for my project. please and thank you!! :D :D

GDO,

Just so youknow, we ask that you keep all of your posts regarding your project in the same thread. This helps the Experts be better able to help you. For this reason, I have merged the topic asking about a title for your project and the topic about how to create a data table/graph for your project into one topic with the subject "Need a good title for science project quickly!".
All the best,

GOD,

If you have pictures of the petri dishes with bacteria in them, then you can probably use those pictures to help you analyze your data. You might consider (1) estimating the percentage of the agar that is covered with bacteria, (2) determining how many different kinds of bacteria are on each place, or (3) counting the number of colonies you can identify on each plate. Any of these bleep would provide you with numerical data that could then be easily shown in a data table and graph.

Let us know if we can be of any further help; good luck on the project!

"Need help understanding the application(real-world)paper"

Post by GOD »

There is an application paper that you have to write relating your project to the real-world.Do you have any idea how I can relate collecting and growing bacteria form bathrooms to the real-world?Please and thank you! :D :D

I would investigate public health issues, like the spread of disease. I volunteer in a medical office where they emphasize the importance of clean hands in keeping you and the people who come in contact with you healthy. I also see signs in restaurant restrooms emphasizing the importance of washing hands before returning to work. There are a number of diseases that can cause epidemics which tend to break out whenever clean water and sanitary sewers are disrupted by floods or disasters (like typhoid, dysentery, food poisoning, etc.). Your project is similar to what public health inspectors do when they inspect restaurants for food safety. I hope this is enough to get you thinking.

Good luck on the paper,

Barrett Tomlinson

"how do you count bacteria colonies"? urgent!!

Post by GOD »

How do count bacteria colonies or estimate the percentage of agar that is covered with bacteria. How do you determine how many different kinds of bacteria are on each plate? This is really urgent for my data and analysis! please and thank you!! :(

God,

The Conclusion section of your board/report should outline what you found out from your experiment (e.g. "Based on my data analysis, I conclude that the color of light radishes are grown under does not affect the size of the harvested radish.") For more information, please look at https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ions.shtml

The abstract is a summary of your project. It is a short (usually 250 words) paragraph or two that outlines (1) the purpose of your experiment, (2) your bleep, (3) your results and conclusions, and (4) why your project is significant/important. For more information, please take a look at https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ract.shtml.

Please remember to keep all of your posts on the same thread; this really does help the Experts help you! I've combined all of your existing threads into one thread with the subject "Need a good title for science project quickly!" Please keep all of your posts regarding your project on that topic.

Good luck!

GOD,

Again, please note that I have combined all of your threads into one with the subject "Need a good title for science project quickly".

For information in interpreting plates, please see https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ates.shtml. After thoroughly reading that page and looking at the references provided, please post back if you still have specific questions.

Good luck on your project!

GOD,

If you look at a post I made earlier, you will see that I mentioned a couple of different ways to measure the amount of bacteria on your plates. I've quoted from my older post below:
If you have pictures of the petri dishes with bacteria in them, then you can probably use those pictures to help you analyze your data. You might consider (1) estimating the percentage of the agar that is covered with bacteria, (2) determining how many different kinds of bacteria are on each place, or (3) counting the number of colonies you can identify on each plate. Any of these bleep would provide you with numerical data that could then be easily shown in a data table and graph.
Have you tried any of these bleep, or do you have a specific question about which bleep to use?
All the best,
Terik
