magnetic water
Hello, I am researching magnetic water and I was wondering what the best way to magnetize water is. I was also wondering if you knew how to measure the force of a magnetic field. I was going to test the magnetized water on microorganisms to see what effect it has on them. Magnetized water is, by definition, water that has been affected by a strong magnetic field other than the Earth. Thanks!

Re: magnetic water
Hi Bugatti,
Welcome to the ask an expert forum. Health claims about magnetized water are generally regarded by the scientific community as lacking any theoretical or experimental basis. Here is one page with a scientific viewpoint on the topic:

You can do an experiment on what people call "magnetized water" but you should approach the project with caution and awareness that some scientists will be skeptical or dismissive of the concept.
The force of a magnetic field can be measured with a gaussmeter. These instruments are >$100, though it's also possible to build your own for very little cost:

I hope that helps,
Chris
