I need some more information on how Madagascar Hissing cockroaches react to color for my background research paper.

Hi,

Color vision in cockroaches sounds like a fascinating but obscure topic. The following are someof the few relevant citations I could find. Good luck in deciphering it:

See Question 68 if this:

I could find almost nothing specific to the Madagascar Hissing cockroach, but it was implied all cockroaches use basically the same design of vision system, so I hope studies of German and American cockroaches will be relevant to your interest.

Good luck on your project. It sounds like a great topic!

Best regards,

Hi Emily,
I merged your new topic with your old one so that the Experts can see the history and progress of your project. Please keep future posts in this topic. Thanks.

In general, scientific research can be divided into basic science and applied science. Basic science provides benefits of understanding how the world works. In that sense, any information gained is useful. So, you could say that your experiment will help to understand animal behavior. Applied science provides benefits of making life easier for us. For example, the use of color might assist people to control (or entertain) these insects. Madagascar hissing cockroaches are generally not considered a pest, though some people worry that they could become an invasive species.

I hope that helps,
