Hi Beth,

I don't know the answer to your question. This sounds like a question that you could do an experiment on and find the answer for yourself. Are are starting to do this for a science fair project?

Here is a website that explains why leaves fall off trees in the fall:

You have a good topic to work on, so you can go to the science buddies website and check out the information in the science fair project guide to help you get started. You will need to do an experiment that will give you the answer to your question. Do let us know if you have any other questions.

Good luck!

I am not exactly sure what you are asking sciencebuddies to help you with. If you do some background information, however, you should find enough information to help you form a hypothesis.
