Kids or Adults Smarter? (help)

Post by deleted-18864 »

I have finished my project, but I need the resources for it. And I need the 'Ask an Expert' part of it.
(The kids won.) So why did the Adults lose, is it due to memory loss? Or is it something else? Plus I need scientific research papers..but I can't find any. So any help on this would be great...P.S. It's due sometime Wed Jan 28 2009-Thurs Jan 29 2009.

Hi,

What an interesting question! Based on your post I don’t think any intelligent comment or answer can be made. To even try we would need to know what you measured, how you measured it, and lots of information on your sample population, etc. IQ is a highly complicated and controversial subject, and not something that is measured on an absolute scale (it is only defined as a relative number within a normalized population).

I suspect, but don’t know, that you are measuring a skill or performance on a test of some kind and calling that “IQ”. Sort of a “Are you as smart as a fifth grader” sort of thing. Kids might score better because they had more experience or more recent experience with the questions or tests used.

Even if you used a carefully calibrated and normalized IQ test instrument, administered well, I do not know if your question could be fairly answered. I have seen studies trying to correlate IQ scores and dementia, so maybe, but…

Here are some resources on IQ:

http://www.eskimo.com/~miyaguch/grady/iq_intell.html

Good luck! You risk having this project labeled “pseudo Science” if you are not extremely careful in how you present it.

Hi!
Definitely try and provide us with more information about how you conducted your study. As for links, check these out-

Hope this helps, good luck!
