Hi suzy, Welcome to the Ask an Expert forums. Sounds like you've chosen a very interesting topic for your project. For general information or background questions like the ones you are considering, we generally recommend typing them into an internet search engine. If you have specific questions about the information that you find on those web pages, you can give a link or cut and paste text, and then let us know what sort of help you need.
Good luck!
Chris

Suzy,
If you don't get the search results you're hoping for, it's often necessary to try different search terms. This is a very useful skill, not just in science but for learning about absolutely anything you might want to look up on the internet. Did you try something like coronary artery bypass surgery? If so, that might not have been specific enough -- there could be plenty of pages describing the surgery for patients who aren't that interested in its history. Try thinking of more words that are very likely to be present on a web page with the information you want. First is probably there, but that could also be present in a description of the steps the surgeon follows. History is probably more unique to pages describing the history of the procedure. I had good results with first coronary bypass surgery and even better ones with history coronary bypass surgery (no quotes).

Re: The human heart
It's generally not a good idea to use any encyclopedia as a source, because they only show information that's actually in other more "primary" sources. However, there's a good Wikipedia article entitled "Coronary artery bypass surgery" that answers your questions. If you look at the information on the first on, there are 2 footnotes at the bottom of the page. If you read these linked articles, they are likely to be good primary sources, or at least have information about good primary sources in them.
