killing weeds with electricity

Does anyone have an idea on how to attempt to kill weeds with electricity? Any ideas on how to build a contraption to accomplish this goal?
I don't know what kind of experimentation I'm going to do yet with this idea, but I'm really interested in finding an alernative to chemicals for killing weeds.
