Manufacture of Nitrobenzene

We have these questions for our discussion at school about agitation in nitration. How would good stirring contribute towards the time required to complete the reaction (ie would it progress faster) and the amount of unwanted dinitrobenzene produced? We were manufacturing nitrobenzene from pure benzene, 96% sulphuric acid and 69% nitric acid.
