tsunami experiment

Post by deleted-36362 »

My son wans to do build a tsunami model. He wants to check which barrier will work best when tsunami hits ?

Any ideas on how to build the model and where the barrier must be placed will be helpful.

Also how can we measure ?

Thanks

Hi,

Sounds like your son will have fun with the tsunami concept. Here are some Sciencece Buddy links that might be helpful:

Here are brief project ideas

Here are some papers on physical models that hopefully will help:

Here is a book on the subject that you might be able to borrow on an interlibrary loan:

I think I have given you links to all the resources Science Buddies has on tsunamis as well as some of the major links to be found by google searching. I am sorry to note that it seems very little of it is very responsive to your stated need. This means your son has a terrific opportunity to do a highly original project project if he can penetrate the fog and solve the challenges of doing a project without much cookbook guidance. In any event it should be a lot of fun to try.

I wish you all every success, and apologise for not being of more help!

Best regards,
