Sound

Help! I am in desperate need of a cheap device or anything that will create a sound continusly on the same pitch. I had a metrotuner but it broke.

Hi,

Lots of things will work. A partially filled wine glass or brandy snifter. You wet your finger and wipe around the lip, should give a fairly pur tone. Also a lenth of circular pipe. You can suspend in the air with fishing line or string. Blowing across the end, or striking with a mallet near the one end should also give a fairly pure stone.. A tuning fork will do the same thing. Almost any nusical instrument except a drum will work. These are just a few. Some cheap toys have or computers will produce pure tones, and you may already own one.. Be creative!

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Hmm this might be a little late,

But although it's fairly cheap and easy, the pitch will not be constant unless the air you blow into it is constant. If you need something perfect, I recommend a tuning fork or a pitch pipe, which can be bought at any music store.

This, however, might only be convenient if you also play an instrument. Otherwise, any other viewers should go with the bottle idea.
