Cancer Bio-informatics project

Post by ericjang »

Hello to all,

I am conducting a bio-informatics project relating to image processing of cancer. Does anyone know where I can find a comprehensive database of sample pictures? Aside from National Cancer Institute, I was wondering if I missed any popular source of these images.

Thank you very much,

Hi Eric,

This is not my area of expertise, but here are a couple online sources of sample pictures:

http://www.biology.arizona.edu/math/pro ... ts/cancer/

http://melanoma.blogsome.com/category/s ... rocessing/

I suggest putting some keywords (like "image processing of cancer") into Google or Google Scholar (scholar.google.com) to help you with your research.

Hope that helps!

Dear Heather,

Thank you very much! Both sites provide a good overview of the image-processing procedure, but is there a database where I can find pictures in the hundreds? As a statistics tool I will probably have to work with a rather large image set...

Once again, thanks!

Hi, There seem to be quite a number of cancer cell image databases available. See this google search result:
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=n ... e+database

And a site with links to several:

Good luck in finding what you want!
