Indentifying variables in science project

Post by charold »

I am testing to see which brand of soap lasts longer. I am using 5 different brands of soap cut the exact size and placing in bowls of water the same temperature. I need help identifying the independent, dependent, and controlled variables. Thanks.

Hi,

The Science Buddies Project Guide has a good discussion on variables. Here is a link:

In your case the independent variable might be the type of soap. The dependent variable might be the length of time it lasts. The controlled variable might be water temperature.

I hope this helps.
