Hi,
Here are some Science Buddy Project Ideas on chromatography:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... g&from=TSW
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... g&from=TSW
Both these ideas suggest measuring the relative response factor (Rf), which is how fast your spot migrates relative to the solvent front. Additionally you might want to see how Rf varies when you change the solvent, and to measure the Rf of each component of your sample.
This is a great experiment exploring one of the most frequently used analytical techniques in chemistry.
If you have questions about how to do a science fair project check ut the Science Buddies Project Guide:

Good luck and have fun with it!

Thank you soooooo much i really appreciate it. I just have one more question. Im doing the project on science buddies called Reveal the Red:exploring the chemistry of red flower pigments. I need the special chromatography paper. Where else could i find some that is farely inexpensive besides the internet? I was also wondering if coffee filters would work?
