need an interview on bridge types

Post by blhuso »

Which bridge is the strongest, a plank, arch, truss, or a suspension bridge?
why are their different kinds of bridges?
what are bridges usually made up?
what specific jobs do these kind of bridges handle?
Is it important for me to spread the weight out or should i direct it on one spot?
Does the amount of glue i use affect the experiment?
What material should i use to build the bridges?
For a suspension bridge, what should i use as the cables?
Also for a suspension bridge, ho tight should the cables be?
What should i use for weight in this experiment?

ScienceBuddies has a lot of information about bridges, and lots of ideas about how you could do a science project on bridges.

Check out this index of good articles:

Hi,

Here is an interesting online simulator for building bridges. It takes into account all the terminology you need to be familiar with:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/buildingbig/lab/forces.html

In addition, you can click on the text version to get all the content without the simulation.
