Re: biology project
Hi Alison,
You have a great topic, but for a science fair project, you will need to narrow your question down so you can ask a question that you will be able to answer with a carefully designed controlled experiment.
First, read through the steps of doing a science fair project:
http://sciencebuddies.com/science-fair- ... ndex.shtml
Next, do background reading on your topic so you will understand what problems need to be investigated.
Here are some projects related to your topic from the science buddies website:
This project shows how capillary action works in plants. This is a commonly done project, and for a high school project, you would need to do something to make it more challenging and original:

Here is another project on using recycled water for plants:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p040.shtml
Here’s a website that describes how to measure plant growth:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... owth.shtml
Here are some more interesting projects. Look in the bibliography sections for more background reading sources.

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p016.shtml
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p018.shtml
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p046.shtml
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p011.shtml
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p019.shtml
Let us know if you have any other questions. You barely have enough time to do a plant growth experiment, so do concentrate on the reading and developing your topic so you can start the project within a few days.
