USB charger project help

Post by workingHardnow099 »

About a USB charger that I will be making discussed here:
http://www.ladyada.net/make/mintyboost/index.html

What I want to do is have about the same concept but it would have another pair of rechargeable batteries, a male type A usb jack, an output and input plug, actually BE a usb flash disk, and memory card readers.

I would have another pair of rechargeable batteries separate from the batteries that the usb charger would use so that i can use those for other electronics (ex. remote, mp3, etc.) and so it should be able to be recharged using the usb charger.

The Type A Male usb jack\input plug would be to charge both the batteries for the usb charger to work and the extra batteries for other electronics.

The output plug would be for charging phones, iPods, etc. using a regular charger that usually goes in an outlet.

I would also like to put a memory card reader and actual memory so that it can also be used as a flash disk. But that could be on a separate unit if it would get too large and bulky.

Please give me complete instructions, how to make the PCB, and equipments/tools that I need because I am still a novice.

Your profile indicates you are a college student. Science buddies' mission is to assist K-12 students with science fair projects. Even if you were a high school student doing a Science Fair project,
Please give me complete instructions, how to make the PCB, and equipments/tools that I need because I am still a novice.
is asking for far too much help and the help you are asking for is Electrical Engineering in nature.

Trouble shooting electrical circuits is something best learned by working with a local mentor who can physically look at what you have and you can interact in real time verbally.

WorkingHardNow - You are really looking into a electronics experimenter issue that is not the scope of the Science Buddies program. But, to be helpful I'm including a few references about making simple, single sided PCB's using a Laser printer. There are many references on the internet covering this subject, and you, as a pre-college engineering student, will be able to find sufficient detail on this topic with a few search engine inquiries. Here is a good description of the process.

Here is a YouTube video of the actual technique. Good luck.
