Here are some simple steps to get you started:

1. Start by determining your resting heart (take your pulse).

2. Next play a video game for some period of time - maybe start with 10 minutes.

3. Take your pulse again after playing your video game.

You may want to get someone else to be your subject - maybe a friend or your brother or sister. Do steps 1,2,3 above.

Do you see a difference in heart rate before vs. after playing the video game? Maybe try playing the video game for varying lengths of time. Maybe try different types of video games and see if the type of game affects heart rate.

If you have access to a heart rate monitor this may be useful too.

Hope this helps!

How to Start

I would begin by checking out Science Buddies "How to Do A Science Fair Project" :

Then do some searches for your topic. I did an MSN search "video games effect heart rate." I got a few good hits I will share with you now:

I hope this helps. Good luck on your project.

Hello!

You should get your results from a group of people, not just yourself. You can also expand your project by trying out different video games out on people to see which video game causes the greatest pulse difference.

my friend who went to the reginals did that..ok.. so may be you should decide if you want to do different types of video games of not.... like a sports one (NBA LIve 2005) or Action (Halo 2) or a girlie game like dance dance revolution... wiat that interactive...

well choose that first... then decide if you want to test gurls sepretly from guys??? so many possiblitis.... different age groups,.... the amount of time of play....decide on them.. work out your variables.! :!: :!: :!:

Then you want to start planning....

take original pulse
then play game for (blank) min
take pulse
do the pulse = heart rate equation

do this test 40 - 50 times on different people....

hope this helps
