Please help me!
I've decided to use which gum brand last the longest for my science project. Should i use the same flavor for all my gum brands? and how would i go about the experiment? any suggestions?

If possible it would be preferable to use the same flavour gum for all your experiments as it would eliminate a source of variation. This may be tricky since the different brands may not have the same flavours or if they do they formulation may be different. One thing you could look at is how long the flavour lasts, or the time people chew before deciding the gum was spent.
You would probably need a significant group size for each test to get meaningful results.

I agree with what Michael said.
If you haven't done much on your project yet, you might consider changing your topic. You won't learn much science with the topic you've chosen, unless you do some really advanced chemistry. Since you are in 8th grade you could do a more challenging project.
However, if you are far along on your project already (or are really excited about it), then just continue. I would study what gum is made out of and compare the ingredients in the different brands. Also study why the flavor of gum decreases over time (what ingredients are being digested by your saliva?).
Also take a look at this page to determine how many participants you will need: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ants.shtml
If you do want to look at other topics, either take our Topic Selection Wizard, which asks you some questions about your interests and then recommends projects for you:

Whatever project you end up doing, this page might also be helpful (it contains some tips about doing a science fair project):

Good luck and let us know if you have more questions!
